Silk Road medieval towns of Semirechie
During
the summer and autumn of 2003, the Public fund "Archeological Association of
Kazakhstan" and Institute of archaeology RK are organizing 2
archaeological investigations of Medieval period in Semirechie. This area, known
as the land of the "Seven Rivers" stretchers along piedmont of the Tianshan from
the Talas Valley to the Djungarian Gate where modern towns of Taraz, Bishkek,
Almaty are located.
The program of work includes survey and excavation
of settlement, camps and tombs of the various
nomadic and settled peoples, as well as open-air lectures in the history and
archaeology of the steppes and the Silk Road and visits of local region.
Participants will be trained in research techniques in the field, and will be
involved in every aspects of excavation here. You will be taught to expose
ground levels, uncovering house floor plans, to collect artifacts, to make first
documentation and you will help to find answers the interesting by since
questions.
Three hot meals a day and free mineral water are
provided. Everywhere living condition are good and atmosphere is friendly.
